BID Chrome Extension
BID Chrome Extension - right click context menu
This extension adds a button to the Google Chrome toolbar which allows you to open the current page with BID, add the current page to the BID Queue Manager job list or open the current page with the BID Link Explorer. It also adds BID menu items to Chrome's right click context menu. The "Link Target" context menu items are only applicable when right clicking on links.

Version 4.55.0.0 of the BID Chrome extension adds the following keyboard shortcuts:
Shift+Alt+D - Open current page with BID
Shift+Alt+Q - Enqueue current page with BID
Shift+Alt+X - Open current page with BID Link Explorer

Go to the extension's options page to toggle menu items on or off (click on the wrench, select Extensions, then click on the "Options" button for the Bulk Image Downloader extension).

IMPORTANT: To make use of this extension you must upgrade to BID version 3.0.0.0 or newer.

Installing the BID Chrome extension for Windows 8 users:
The BID Chrome extension uses a "NPAPI" plugin to launch the BID executable from within the web browser. Unfortunately Windows 8 "Metro" style applications do not support this type of plugin, so this extension will not be available when Chrome is running in Metro mode. The good news is that it will still work if you run Chrome in standard "desktop" mode.

The next problem is that the Chrome Web Store now blocks the installation of any Chrome plugin containing NPAPI plugins if it detects that the user is running Windows 8, even if the user is already in "desktop" mode. Because of this the BID Chrome extension must be installed manually as follows:

Step by Step Guide to installing the BID Chrome Extension for Windows 8 users:

  • 1. Make sure that you're running Chrome in "desktop" mode.
In Windows 8 only the default web browser will use Metro mode, so if you've made Chrome the default browser you'll need to switch the default browser back to IE. Another way is to click on the Chrome menu button (the button with 3 horizontal lines) and select "Relaunch Chrome on the Desktop".

  • 3. Open the Chrome extensions page by clicking the menu, then selecting Tools->extensions, or just open this web page: chrome://chrome/extensions/

  • 4. Drag the recently saved extension file into this newly opened extensions window. A 'drop target' should appear for you to drop the file into. Follow the prompts to complete the installation of the extension.
